Just to quote Duke Ellington whose lyrics were written by Irving Mills for the legendary jazz piece sung by ella fitzgerald.

Some experiences I have had at events were requests for swing. I actually got called up to do a gig with another DJ who was a specialist in this are of music and it basically needed some research on my part. I was to do the first few hours warm up , it was also a tuxedo job, very upmarket . I managed a two hour set of swing and big band sound , during the arrival of guests.

Over the years some of our modern day artists have produced albums of this genre , notably Robbie Williams swing when your winning , being one example, however Paul Anka recently released swing versions of popular hits of the eighties, which proves rather fascinating trying to guess which hit it was in its original form. Then we have had rod steward doing it and a multitude of revival bands so there is more to swing than just Frank Sinatra Dean martin or Nat King cole. It coud also be combined with Rock & Roll.

I have had situations where I have had a full and literaly buzzing dance floor playing a none stop mix of Original Rock & Roll hits from the Fifties. Its still alive in the present day.
